Function Visualizer creates sliders for unknown parameters in f(x).

Function Visualizer

The Function Visualizer Model displays a function f(x) with arbitrary parameters.  As many as five unknown parameters are connected to sliders that can be adjusted to observe the effect of varying parameter values.

Mathematical Expression Parser

In order to build models that allow users to input functions, the program converts a sequence of typed characters into a mathematical expression. This conversion is done using a parser.  The model evaluates the function y = f(x) using a parser that recognizes the following functions:

The Function Visualizer Model was created by Wolfgang Christian and Francisco Esquembre using the Easy Java Simulations (EJS) modeling tool.  You can examine and modify the model for this simulation if you have EJS version 4.2 installed by right-clicking within the plot and selecting "Open Ejs Model" from the pop-up menu.

Information about Ejs is available at: <http://www.um.es/fem/Ejs/> and in the OSP ComPADRE collection <http://www.compadre.org/OSP/>.
